Almaty

Capital of Kazakhstan tourism

The largest city of Kazakhstan is Almaty. Almaty is located in the foothills of the northern Tien Shan (Zaili Alatau). More than 2 million people live in Almaty. Since 1998, Almaty has not been the capital of Kazakhstan, but still remains the cultural, historical and tourist center of Kazakhstan. This is the birthplace of Almaty Aport apple variety, a recognized world sports center and the greenest city of Kazakhstan. The first settlement on the territory of the modern city appeared 150 years ago.
Almaty is a city of contrasts. A metropolis in which, next to trendy restaurants and nightclubs, you can feel the color of the Asian bustling market. The city where the Muslim Central Mosque and the Zenkov Orthodox Cathedral are located on one street. Here the stone jungle is covered with the greenery. The mountain rivers flow close to five-star hotels and everyone finds entertainment to their liking.

Walking around the city, the snow-capped peaks of the Northern Tien Shan will not leave you for a second. The mountains are visible in Almaty from any point and are the main sight of the city. For several decades, Almaty is considered the center of mountaineering and hiking in Kazakhstan. To conquer a height of 3200m above sea level and by lunchtime return to the city, it is possible only in Almaty.
Every year, millions of tourists fly to Almaty to go on a trip to Kazakhstan. It is from Almaty that it is easiest to explore the monuments created by nature. After spending several hours on the road, you can visit: Charyn Canyon, Kolsai and Kaindy Lakes, Altyn Emel National Park.
Do you have a lot of time to try Kazakh cuisine, visit the Asian market, ride a horse and find yourself in the country of low peaks and mountain lakes? Come to Almaty and do it all in one day.
