UNDISCOVERED NATURAL WONDER
The Singing Dune is a unique natural phenomenon in the territory of Altyn Emel National Park. The dune is located on the right bank of the Ili River, 50 km from the village of Basshi. It takes about an hour to drive off-road. The height of the Singing Dune reaches 150 meters in height and 3 km in length. It is a mountain of fine sand, which during the movement creates "singing". Since spring, the Dune wakes up and gives its guests with singing. Locals have shaped many legends for this rare occurrence.
Entertainment for people deciding to visit the Singing Dune begins immediately after leaving the village. In the early morning, heading to the Dune, you can often meet the Turkmen Kulans and Gazelles. They descend from the mountains to a watering hole. The eagles with warm air rise to the top looking for a new victim. The road to the Singing Dune through the desert resembles a safari and does not give a chance to leave your camera.
Facing the Dune, you will have the opportunity to conquer it. From the top you can see the valley of the Ili River and natural borders of Altyn Emel National Park. Hiking to the top is not easy, since the support always gets out from your feet. But the prize you get is worth the effort
